Current strategies in place to prevent bullying:
We:
- listen to children’s concerns and act upon them immediately
- empathise with them and show we understand their concerns
- encourage children to work together, stressing the importance of teamwork
- encourage responsibility for one another
- use Circle Time to discuss concerns and appropriate/inappropriate behaviour
- teach Personal and Social Aspects of Learning (PSHE) in each class every week
- have the Sunflower Club to support PSHE
- consider ourselves approachable to all children whether we teach them or not
- try to ensure that children are not eating or playing alone at break/lunch times
- have playground Buddies to support other children and help them learn how to play together
- have Class Councils who discuss issues that come directly from the children
- have Sports Leaders and Play Leaders to encourage/teach children how to play
- have Friendship Stops so that children who are feeling unhappy have somewhere to go to seek help
- are, as a staff of caring, professional adults, positive role models for the children
